Campfire Stories Is there someting better than sitting at a crackling camp fire in the evening and watching the flames with a drink, while you are talking or just listening to the conversations of the others and the crackling of the fire? This can be done every night at Matira Bush Camp and, in contrast to a camp fire with friends in the home-garden, the adventure you dream about in such moments, is right around you - really close at hand. There is so much to discover and experience when you are on adventures in the Maasai Mara, that the campfire stories in the evening are something very special. They are no more stories, but much more reality: the country, the people, the wild animals, the small and big challenges, the smells, sounds and moods. Lagerfeuergeschichten Es gibt wenig Schöneres, als abends an einem knisternden Lagerfeuer zu sitzen und mit einem Getränk den Flammen zuzuschauen, während man sich unterhält oder einfach nur den Gesprächen der Anderen und dem Knistern des Feuers lauscht. Das kann man im Matira Bush Camp jeden Abend haben und im Gegensatz zu einem Lagerfeuer mit Freunden im Garten, ist hier das Abenteuer, von dem man meistens in solchen Momenten träumt, gleich um einen herum – wirklich zum Greifen nah. Es gibt so vieles zu entdecken und zu erleben, wenn man auf Abenteuer in der Maasai Mara ist, dass die Lagerfeuergeschichten am Abend im Camp etwas ganz besonderes sind. Students discover the Maasai Mara Matira Camp was proud to be the venue of the 4th Raptor Biology Class for students of Boise State University in january. This class is held every two years where graduate students from Boise State University in the USA visit Kenya to learn about the fascinating diversity of birds of prey. The field trip is organized by The Peregrine Fund’s East Africa project and Dr Marc Bechard of Boise State University.   Studenten entdecken die Maasai Mara Das Matira Camp freute sich, im Januar wieder Austragungsort der 4. Raptor Biology Class für Studenten der Boise State University zu sein. Diese Forschergruppe wird alle zwei Jahre aufgestelllt, damit Absolventen der Boise State University in den USA Kenia besuchen, und die faszinierende Vielfalt der Raubvögel kennenlernen können. Matira Bush Camp – Baukunst Die Brücke, die im Matira Bush Camp vom Main- ins Adventure Camp führt, ist beinahe schon legendär. Aber sie ist noch viel mehr! A vote was particularly striking us: "Two of the best nights of my life ..."  "The camp was fantastic, because it is definitely a special place - in the middle of the Masai Mara. The game drive begins literally at your own door. With good luck, we'll meet lions relaxing in the treetops and you fall asleep to the calls of the hippos and hyenas. I can not say enough about how great it was to roll out of bed and get served after 15 minutes breakfast in the open bush. The very neat tents with a hot shower and toilet left nothing to be desired. Even a hot water bottle for the bed had prepared by the friendly staff. They gave us the feeling of being at home. I enjoyed the very good food and the local entertaining guides who knew well the whereabouts of the animals by telling stories and making jokes. Personally, I love the graceful slow giraffes as they roam through the plane, but to observe a cheetah with her cubs, was a special experience for me. The only "negative" was the arrival to camp. We were picked up in Nairobi by a car, which remained fail several times, so we had to change to a van. Once you leave the paved roads on the approach (about 4-5 hours ride in our case), the real fun, which start for me behind the paved roads, quickly lay down after several hours of driving, because the dark night with all the wild animals, far from the next "street", was a bit strange and tiring. All in all, the Matira Bush Camp is the ideal place for a trip to the Masaai Mara. You leave the tent an stay right in the Bush. I enjoy the friendly service and the advantages of the professional guide. Even the fridge, stocked with Tusker, helped to have spent here the two best nights of my life ... TripAdvisor: „Zwei der besten Nächte meines Lebens ...“ Die Gästebewertungen des Matira Bush Camps auf TripAdvisor lesen sich wie die Tagebücher ergriffener Abenteurer - weshalb wir, hier in dieser Serie, die Erlebnisse der Reisenden veröffentlichen. Eine Bewertung fiel uns dabei besonders ins Auge: „Zwei der besten Nächte meines Lebens ...“  „Das Camp war fantastisch, was auf jeden Fall an diesem besonderen Ort lag - mitten in der Masai Mara. Die Pirschfahrt beginnt buchstäblich vor der eigenen Tür. Mit etwas Glück sieht man sich entspannende Löwen in den Baumkronen und man schläft zu den Rufen der Flusspferde und Hyänen ein. Ich kann gar nicht genug betonen, wie großartig es war, aus dem Bett zu rollen und nach 15 Minuten Fahrt das Frühstück im offenen Bush serviert zu bekommen. Die sehr gepflegten Zelte mit einer heißen Dusche, WC und Waschbecken ließen keine Wünsche offen. Sogar eine Wärmflasche für das Bett hatte das freundliche Personal bereitliegen. Man gab uns das Gefühl, zuhause zu sein. Ich genoss das sehr gute Essen und die unterhaltsamen Führungen, begleitet von den Geschichten und Witzen des einheimischen Guides, der sich bestens mit den Aufenthaltsorten der Tiere auskannte. Ich persönlich liebe die anmutigen langsamen Giraffen, wie sie durch die Ebene streifen - aber eine Gepardin mit ihren Jungen zu beobachten, war auch für mich eine besondere Erfahrung. Das einzige „Negative“ war die Anreise zum Camp. Wir wurden in Nairobi von einem Auto abgeholt, das mehrfach liegen blieb, sodass wir in einen Kleinbus umsteigen mussten. Sobald man die asphaltierten Straßen auf der Anfahrt verlässt (ca. 4-5 Stunden fahrt in unserem Fall), beginnt der eigentliche Spaß, der sich nach mehreren Stunden Fahrt bei mir allerdings schnell legte, da es des Nachts mit all den wilden Tieren, fern ab der nächsten „Straße“, erstmal etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und anstrengend ist. Alles in allem, ist das Matira Bush Camp der ideale Ort für eine Reise in die Masaai Mara. Sie verlassen das Zelt und sind mitten im Bush. Man genießt den freundlichen Service und die Vorzüge der professionellen Führer. The friendly and attentive service takes care of it that you lack nothing. Late in the evening you will act to end the day and go to bed - in a comfortable tent in the middle of Bush. Your adopted you from the social gathering and already is a traditionally dressed Maasai warriors ready to take you to your living tent by the Bush with a spear to the right and a vigilant eye, so that no predator complicates the way to your well-deserved sleep. This happened Juliane H. and her husband from Hamburg: "In the bush terrain in the Massai Mara lies the Matira Bush Camp, where I stayed with my husband two days and nights. The service was excellent, the food outstanding, we felt very comfortable. Our guide, who accompanied us on our individual safaris drive us to the places where we were able to successfully observe the animals of the savannah. Der Service war hervorragend, das Essen herausragend, wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Unser Guide, der uns auf unseren individuellen Safaris begleitete, gab wirklich alles um uns zu den Stellen zu fahren, wo wir zu den jeweiligen Zeiten erfolgreich die Tiere der Savanne beobachten konnten. Abends begleitete uns sogar ein mit einem Speer bewaffneter Massai - vom Restaurantzelt über den Fluss und eine Wiese - zu unserem Übernachtungszelt, zum Schutz vor wilden Tieren.
