Catching the throat | An die Kehle

  Cathing the throat

What a photo! While the cheetah is grabbing the throat of the just hunted gazelle for taking the last breath, the fast and skilled hunter discovers the camera and is looking from a safe distance directly towards the lens. One moment, the photographer will not forget so soon ...

  Breathing in Maasai Mara

The wide and open spaces as a plentiful offer, that is Maasai Mara. Extended plains. Like the clouds shapen the horizon over the savannah, they also create a feeling of spatial freedom – space for breathing ...

The Gazelle mother stands alert with her cub in a sea of golden brown dried prairie grasses. This image conveys so much peace and harmony that one instantly gets start dreaming. Dreaming like a well-fed lion in the shade of scattered trees. The scenery allows the soul to rest and bustle and hustle is quickly forgotten. It's like a cure for the senses. A quiet pool in modern spirit. Looking at the landscape with upcoming wishes for resting in comfortable lounge chair under a big umbrella, cold drinks and plenty of time. Losing the view, in distant details, in the flickering haze, in cool clouds. Breathing in Maasai Mara: http://matirasafari.com

Malaika - play once only ... | Nur mal spielen ...

Malaika - play once only ...

As Malaika with their then small boys wandered through the savannah, by training the kids had very different interests than just hunting and survival. And if it ever comes to hunting, why not time to tackle your own mother? How they respond well?

Malaika - Nur mal spielen ...

TripAdvisor: "Two of the best nights of my life ..." | „Zwei der besten Nächte meines Lebens ...“

TripAdvisor: "Two of the best nights of my life ..."

To read the Guests reviews of Matira Bush Camp on TripAdvisor, is like to read the diaries of measures adventurers - so we publish here in this series, the experiences of travelers. A vote was particularly striking us: "Two of the best nights of my life ..."

"The camp was fantastic, because it is definitely a special place - in the middle of the Masai Mara. The game drive begins literally at your own door. With good luck, we'll meet lions relaxing in the treetops and you fall asleep to the calls of the hippos and hyenas. I can not say enough about how great it was to roll out of bed and get served after 15 minutes breakfast in the open bush. The very neat tents with a hot shower and toilet left nothing to be desired. Even a hot water bottle for the bed had prepared by the friendly staff. They gave us the feeling of being at home. I enjoyed the very good food and the local entertaining guides who knew well the whereabouts of the animals by telling stories and making jokes. Personally, I love the graceful slow giraffes as they roam through the plane, but to observe a cheetah with her cubs, was a special experience for me.
The only "negative" was the arrival to camp. We were picked up in Nairobi by a car, which remained fail several times, so we had to change to a van. Once you leave the paved roads on the approach (about 4-5 hours ride in our case), the real fun, which start for me behind the paved roads, quickly lay down after several hours of driving, because the dark night with all the wild animals, far from the next "street", was a bit strange and tiring.
All in all, the Matira Bush Camp is the ideal place for a trip to the Masaai Mara. You leave the tent an stay right in the Bush. I enjoy the friendly service and the advantages of the professional guide. Even the fridge, stocked with Tusker, helped to have spent here the two best nights of my life ... " David, Denmark

Earless increases the Notchdynasty | Earless vergrössert die Notchdynastie

  Earless increases the Notchdynasty

Earless has grown up to a handsom lion taking care for next offspring. Lions are mating in 15min cycles in best times. Exctraordinary but fascinating to see the tough action. Is is remarkable, in which kind of intensity and strength the lions meet each other here. A show of power. Impressive and respectful. Good that not all partners treat their partnesr in such a „loving“ and dominant way as shown in the video inside the wilderness oft he Maasai Mara.

The Matira Bush Camp from a bird's view | Das Matira Bush Camp aus der Vogelperspektive

The Matira Bush Camp from a bird's view

Like a small paradise. If you look at the Matira Bush Camp from lofty heights, you get enthusiastic. Left side the open savannah, centerstaged the Matira Main Camp, and to justify the name, the Adventure Camp located on the right in the thick bush after the view goes over the bridge, which is just visible here. And crossing the blue shimmering Matira stream that flows in a short distances into the Mara River . We would like to have a picture even at night - when the tents are illuminated and a campfire is crackling under the treetops ...

  News from Malaikas "Gang" ...

Malaika with her two kids on their way to hunt. If one observes the family, as they range the savannah, you would not like be on their menuplan - because the two kids have reached her mother's size. Determined to target a group of impalas - hungry to get the innocent meal. Indeed the kids are now quite tall and stately, but obviously they still lack the prudence and experience in hunting: one of the kids could not wait for Malaika start hunting, in doing so the gang missed the right time and the exhausting effort in the midday heat was "for nothing". It will probably take some time for the young to have achieved her mothers professionality - one of the best hunters in the Maasai Mara.

The bean bag was gone ... | Weg war der Bohnensack ...

The bean bag was gone ...

During a game drive, while observing the lions, Monika fell a bean bag from the vehicle. No problem - take pictures quickly finished and then get the bag back into the car. But faster than expected, one of the animals had also discovered the interesting thing and was already off and away with him. So much for the bean bag, from which was ultimately nothing left ...
