If you look at the many scenes that the Maasai Mara offers, there is always one thing in addition to the eating habits, the struggle for survival and environmental problems: When the animals come to rest, like this jackal family here before their home, then It surrounds a peaceful idyll that reminds romantically that the simple and natural things make life worth living.

Wenn man die vielen Szenen betrachtet, die die Maasai Mara bietet, so fällt einem neben den Fressgewohnheiten, dem Kampf ums Überleben und Umweltproblemen immer wieder eines auf: Wenn die Tiere zur Ruhe kommen, so wie diese Schakal-Familie hier vor ihrem Bau, dann umgibt sie eine friedliche Idylle, die romantisch anmutend daran erinnert, dass die einfachen und natürlichen Dinge, die sind, die das Leben lebenswert machen.

Hat man schon so seltsame Vögel gesehen, wie sie hier in dieser Baumkrone in der Maasai Mara nisten? Sie knurren, fressen Elefanten, haben ein Fell und große Pranken statt zierlicher Krallen. Dabei sind sie so groß geraten, dass sie anscheinend das Fliegen verlernt haben, denn sie müssen vom Boden auf die Gipfel der Bäume hinaufklettern …

  Students discover the Maasai Mara

Matira Camp was proud to be the venue of the 4th Raptor Biology Class for students of Boise State University in january. This class is held every two years where graduate students from Boise State University in the USA visit Kenya to learn about the fascinating diversity of birds of prey. The field trip is organized by The Peregrine Fund’s East Africa project and Dr Marc Bechard of Boise State University.

Das Matira Camp freute sich, im Januar wieder Austragungsort der 4. Raptor Biology Class für Studenten der Boise State University zu sein. Diese Forschergruppe wird alle zwei Jahre aufgestelllt, damit Absolventen der Boise State University in den USA Kenia besuchen, und die faszinierende Vielfalt der Raubvögel kennenlernen können. Die Exkursion wird vom ostafrikanischen Projekt des Peregrine Fund und Dr. Marc Bechard der Boise State University organisiert.
