The new is here! | Die Neue ist da!

Anzeige

  The new is here!

Again a new Mara resident. This little antelope has made it and is obviously healthy and well. It is always amazing how the newly born animals come up fast on their feet and follow the herd, by connecting to the mother, in the shortest possible time.
Now the mother has a lot to do. The young coat must be cleaned first and this is called: lick! This also stimulates the blood circulation and strengthens the bond between mother and child. Now there is a lot to discover in the vastness of Maasai Mara - good luck and pay attention to the lions!

We have already told about the great tents of the Matira Bush Camp. As far as the "lounge" is concerned, the tent, where the guests can eat and dine together, is certainly worth a small report - because here, one comes adventurously close to what one else knows from good hotels, too.

If the candles burn here in the evening and you meet in a convivial atmosphere to discuss the experiences of the past day or to strengthen yourself in the selection of drinks and food, you quickly forget that you stay in a big tent. Because the atmosphere here leaves nothing to be desired and it offers the guests in addition to the appropriate service "Caming de Lux" pure ...

The most beautiful ears | Die schönsten Ohren

  The most beautiful ears

At the sight of the Carcal one would almost like to think, here a cat crossed with a lyre. What kind of ears! The animal with its sublime head-dresses looks at the surroundings with a firm eye. The variety of the Kenyan animal world is just wonderful ...

Was für Ohren!

Challenge spear throw | Herausforderung Speerwurf

Anzeige

  Challenge spear throw

In the Maasai training of Matira Safari, there is a very special challenge: the spear throw. Because hunting and fighting with this very special weapon is anything but easy!

It looks simple, but there is technology, skill, and training behind it, when a Maasai warrior skillfully puts his spear into action and hits a point over a long distance. The spear of the Maasai is suitable in various ways for battle and hunting. The old tribal wars are history and hunting today is also much less common with the spear, but the sporting skill associated with the javelin will be preserved for a long time. How to keep the spear accurate and in harmony with the body, shows experienced Maasai warriors at a workshop in the Matira Bush Camp. The first skilful litter takes time, but by the way it is also a lot of fun!

  Herausforderung Speerwurf

  Red Lion

How Notch strolls through his territory speaks a lot for the "red lion." So full of grace, strength and security. What grace gives a lion such a splendid mane? No wonder that every one speaks reverently and with admiration of "the" Notches. The legendarys of the Maasai Mara ...

Maasai Grill Culture - Nyama Choma | Maasai Grillkultur – Nyama Choma

Maasai Grill Culture - Nyama Choma

In the evening, when the camp fire crackles in the camp and the voices of the night rush through the bush, at this moment is also time for Nyama Choma - traditionally prepared meat, grilled in old Maasaitradition.

This unique culinary experience only can be enjoyed in the Kenyan savannah. The meat of native cattle is poked on sticks and cooked on the open fire, which gives the fresh meat a fabulous taste. There is time to talk to each other and to have a few drinks by during the past day, while the team at the Matira Bush Camp takes care of the food. After this rustic meal you sit at the fire and come to rest. Only the nocturnal hunters of the Mara, make it reverse and go slowly to forage ...

  Maasai Grillkultur – Nyama Choma

Breathtaking landscapes XII | Atemberaubende Landschaften XII

  Breathtaking landscapes XII

Like on a distant planet: A termite building rises from the dusty earth of the Maasai Mara - in the haze between day and darkness. If you went into the detail of the macro-world of the building, the scenery would be even more real. Where the small insects, with their armor and their feelers in the collective of their work, pursue - indefatigably. Unbelievable what a small national park has to offer. Here, diffenrent worlds are hidden - for the eye of the exploratory viewer ...

  Atemberaubende Landschaften XII

  Sandrivermales extend their territory

Two days ago in the morning, the Matira crew met two male lions from the Sandriver in the Survey area. The two were obviously drive out by the Nomad-Males and now looking for a new territory.

Just a few yards away lay a lioness with her boy - both of them seemed visibly exhausted, while the boy limped and the mother carried various injuries with him. Obviously, there was a struggle between the newcomers and the mother. Lions, who conquering a new Pride, usually killing the offspring of their competitors. Yesterday morning followed one of the sandrivers the injured lioness, which apparently brought their offspring to a supposedly safe place in the night and shortly thereafter the Matira team found the remains of a small lion boy. The mother had apparently lost the battle for her offspring. A sad story, which is not only bad: because for this morning the lioness was seen with a second boy, who was hide better than the first. We continue to watch ...

Angriff! | Attack!

  Attack!

This photo shows the spectacular attack of the leopard on one of the wildebeests who broke off a crossing in panic in front of the predator earlier this week. An overwhelming shot showing the superior tactics of the beautiful beast which will soon destroyed his prey. One almost wants to write of a "sublime death" of wildebeest ...

  Angriff!
